Local Community

One way my sisters and I build community is through belonging to a "local community". In a local community a group of sisters get together to share prayer, discernment, ongoing formation experiences, and fun! They often (but not necessarily) include the sisters you live with, and other sisters in the area. Sisters who live in areas where there are not many other sisters are able to connect to the congregation through their local community. It is a way of ensuring the individual sister doesn't get lost in community. Local communities also help out when a sister is in the hospital, sick, looses a family member or can no longer care for herself. When a sister passes away it is the local community who help make arrangements for services.

Today I had a great time with my local community. We had a mass for one of our sisters who lost her stepmother, and shared a meal afterward. I admire each and every one of the sisters in my local group. We have been through so much together throughout the years. They have left their handprints on my hears and will continue to do so.

Welcome!

Let me start with some basics. I live in a house with 3 other nuns, two of whom of are nurses, the other sister and I are in education. We pray together and share meals and life together. We do have a lot of fun together. I really enjoy them.

I am a middle school special education teacher at a charter school. I work mostly with student with learning disabilities.

I am in a Franciscan community, that means that we live by the rule and life of St. Francis. I entered in 2002 as a Novice and took my final vows August 8th, 2008
